Digipak Research
Some other similar artists are The Killers. The Killers are a very famous and popular, well known Indie Rock band; who have been amazingly successful over the years. Due to this success there comes different albums made and therefore lots of digipacts have been created. Here are some of their digipacks...
We have planned in our music video to use lots of colour and powder paint. Along with this and our music genre that we are aiming for being Indie Rock Coldplay matched this perfectly down to a tee. The reason for this being that their music matches our artist James Couleur. Also their album Mylo Xyloto was filled and jam packed with vibrant colours. Here is the example of their Mylo Xyloto album cover and digipack
As you can see the title of the album is right in the middle of the Digipack. The title takes up around third of the front cover, and the rest is filled in with colour. This is in complete contrast to the other digipacks that Coldplay usually produce. A unique twist to this album is in the graffiti words you can see in the background of the album cover. Some of the graffiti if you look closely links into the lyrics or songs on the album. An example of this is in the top right hand corner of the album. If you look closely you can see the words 'Everytear Waterfall' this links into the song on the album "Every Teardrop Is A Waterfall'.
This is the back of Coldplay's Digipak from the album Mylo Xyloto. As you can see the back of the Digipak is full of colour and graffiti continuing to link with our theme for James Couleur album. The inspiration for our colour bonanza in our music video is backed up with the montage of colour you see here.
Here you can the CD for Coldplays album Mylo Xyloto. Yet again the colourful print gives us great inspiration for our video.

Time Line
These Streets Lyrics and Timeline
These streets are yours,
you can keep them (13sec) (walking in fields)
I don't want them (19sec) (walking in fields)
They pull me back, and I surrender (24sec) (walking in fields)
To the memories I run from (28sec) (walking in fields)
Oh, we have paved these
streets (33 sec)
With moments of defeat (38 sec)
But even if we won't
admit it to ourselves (44 sec)
We'll walk upon these streets and think of little else (49 sec)
So I won't show my face here anymore (54 sec)
I won't show my face here anymore (1 min)
These streets are yours,
you can keep them (1:03)
In my mind it's like you haunt them (1:08)
And passing through I think I see you (1:13)
In the shapes of other women (1:18)
Oh, we have stained these
walls (1:22)
With our mistakes and flaws (1:29)
But even if we won't
admit it to ourselves (1:33)
We'll walk upon these streets and think of little else (1:38)
So I won't show my face here anymore (1:43)
I won't show my face here anymore (1:48)
All that's left behind (2:02)
Is a shadow on my mind (2:07)
(Oh, a shadow comes upon a wall is silhouette(over sung)
and nothing more but it's all that's left behind) (2:17)
Is a shadow on my mind
All that's left behind
But even if we won't
admit it to ourselves (2:22) (paint party)

Image Ideas
In our video we plan to have a transition phase where our main artist goes from being in a dark place in his life; to a happy, fun, exciting new part of his life.
We plan to show this with two different visuals in our music video. Firstly we will have our main artist in a dark place in his life, therefore our costume choice for him is key. The other visual is the use of powder paint.
As our artist is an Indie Rock artist they have a very unique look and one in which we need to get right in our music video in order for our video to look the best it can be.
Here are some costume ideas and images we can get inspiration from...

Here you can see one of the images that we can get inspiration from. Taking away the sunglasses, I feel that this image would be great as it fits in with the dark and dull shots for our video, with the hat hiding his full identity when in the dark and dull shots of our video. Then when the hat comes off this resembles a sense of release and freedom when you get the bright and colourful paint shots.
This is a slightly different image to the first one you see, however I would class this as being stereotypically a very indie look. If you look closely you can see the under the denim jacket the model is also wearing a hoodie with the hood up. Yet again this could be a perfect image when filming the dark and dull shots of the video.
Here you can see a completely different image to the first two you have seen. This image can be used in the paint shots. Here you see more of the artist as he is wearing a vest, his identity isn't as covered up. This could therefore go on to give off the impression that he is happy with his life now, using the colours from the paint to back this off. As well as that it also gives off the impression that its summer time, resulting in a colourful shot.

Bastille Lip Sync Task
This is my Lip Sync task of our song. The song I performed my lip sync task too was Bastille's 'These Streets'. I knew the song fairly well through listening to Bastille and their album 'Bad Blood', which this song was on. We had a few out takes where I didn't really go for it as I felt in quite an awkward situation which was well out of my own comfort zone. However I decided to just take it in my stride and then go for it and give it my all. From this It looks a bit cheesy as I don't know what im doing with my hand, I look more like a politician than an artist; but all being said the lip sync has seemed to work quite well.

Prelim Task Evaluation
Music Video Prelim Task Evaluation
Who did you work with and how did you manage the task between you?
In my group there was Ben Smith and Emma Rolf, we kept together as a group not having any falling outs by giving everyone equal roles. For example I directed the video, Emma got a prop list and got all the costumes ready whilst Ben made the story board and got the lyrics up and filmed the clip
How did you plan your sequence? What processes did you use?
To plan our sequence we used a storyboard to work out all the scenes with all the timings and what camera angles we needed to use to match the video. This enabled us to be as accurate as we could with our retake of the video and a actual music video.
What technology did you use to complete the task, and how did you use it?
To film the music video we used Sony HandyCams and a tripod, the tripod enabled us to have a steady smooth shot and enabled us to film tracking shots accuratly. We shot in random orders of the music video depending on the facilities and lighting available at the time. For example filming 0.45- 0.51 rather than following the video in numerical order. As a result this made sure we didnt lose any time.
What factors did you have to take into account when planning, shooting and editing?
When planning, shooting and editing we had to take into account a few things. One of things we had to take into account was where we would shoot a certain scene and what rooms were avaliable at the time. When editing we realised as a group that Ben was the best at editing using the Adobe Premier Softwear.
How successful was your music video copy? Please identify what worked well, and with hindsight, what would you improve/do differently? What did others say about your production?
On the whole I think our music video went pretty well with us getting the timing and accuracy of our music video as close the official vido. The song was fairly directed to the female sex so I think it would be better to have more of a Unisex song.
What have you learnt from completing this task? Looking ahead, how will this learning be significant when completing your music video, do you think?
When creating the video I feel that It was quite hard to directly sink and match the timings of your video to the video we were copying, you either wanted to film longe ror shorter. Also getting the right camera angles are incrediably important in making your video as acccurate as possible. I feel that the learning process from this prelim task will be useful when it comes to the real thing.
How does it compare with filming an opening to a film?
I personally found it a lot harder to make a music video rather than an opening of a film because as I mentioned you had to be so precise with camera angles and scene timings to get the most accurate video. You had a little bit of le-way on timings with your opening scene.
What are your strengths and weaknesses as a group member?
My strengths were taking the timings from the film and matching it with our film. Also I started to work on the story board and then directing the video. My weakness was my attendence towards the end of the year with sportimng commitments so therefore quite a lot was left down to Ben and Emma in my group.
Looking at the other group's videos which do you think were most successful and why?
I think a three groups did really well they were, 'What time is it' by Emma B, Charlie-ann, Richard and Sam. 'That's what I go to school for' by Dom, Megan and Ben F and 'And all these little things' by Nick, Max, Sam, Ben and Fred. These stood out to me because they are very accurate to the real video and all the miming is accurate in the clips too so this adds to the effect.
